I’m pleased to share I’ll be participating in a reading at The Philosopher’s House in Johnson City, Tennessee, on March 22, 2024. PoetTEA will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm to celebrate World Poetry Day. I’m especially happy to join fellow poets from Poetry Society of Tennessee, the Johnson City Poets Collective and the Poetry Writer’s Workshop at The Philosopher’s House.

About Poetry Society of Tennessee

Created by poets for poets in 1953, this society has been around for more than 70 years. Members have access to monthly meetings, educational and generative writing programs (including replays), poetry contests, peer review groups and an annual poetry festival. It also publishes an anthology, Tennessee Voices. I have been a member since 2019 and have led or served on their communications committee since 2020. It has been my pleasure and an honor to serve the society as President this program year. About Johnson City Poets Collective

If you are a poet in the Johnson City area, consider joining the Johnson City Poets Collective open mic nights held at The Down Home on the third Wednesday of the month. I’m not quite a “regular regular” there, but after a stint in Florida over the winter, where I enjoyed the coastal open mic communities, I’m heading back to my home at Down Home this Wednesday evening. (If you are local and interested, signup starts at 6:40 p.m.)

About the Poetry Writer’s Workshop

The Poetry Writer’s Workshop meets every other Friday at The Philosopher’s House in Johnson City, Tennessee, where poets of all experience levels share and workshop their poetry. (I’m a regular at this workshop, which I find worth my time.) If you’re looking for a workshop community, stop by and check it out! See the Philosopher’s House event schedule for the meeting days and times.

About The Philosopher’s House

It’s not just a tea house. It is a liberal arts tea house– a gathering space, library, and class space in one. It’s a place to grab a drink, read, work, or join a class or meetup. It’s a place to discover a community of like-minded people and a panoply of ideas. (And it has great tea, too!)
