Poetry Society of Tennessee will hold a reading featuring regional poets included in Tennessee Voices Anthology, 2023-2024. Among the northeast regional poets in this anthology edition, you’ll find Best of the Fest winner Danita Dodson, Tennessee Voices contest winner Howard Carman, Jerry Buchanan, Sean Kyte, and me. As President of the Poetry Society of Tennessee, I’m excited to promote our anthology and to showcase the talented (and hardworking) poets who were included in its pages. I’m also happy to share my own poem during the event and look forward to the open mic.

The event will be held at the Philosopher’s House in Johnson City, Tennessee, on September 3 at 6:30 pm and open the ongoing open mic series, PoetTEA. The mic will open following the reading and wrap up at 8:30 pm. Sign-ups for open mic begin at 6:15 pm. PoetTEA, which meets first Tuesdays, began in May 2024. Poetry Writers Workshop and the Poetry Society of Tennessee are co-sponsors and co-hosts.

On Tuesday morning, August 27, I’ll appear with Poetry Writers Workshop leader Kayla Nichols on Daytime TriCities, to talk about the society, the anthology, our regional poets, and the event. Tune in!

UPDATE: Kayla Nichols and I had a great time talking with Amy Lynn on Daytime Tricities to promote the upcoming reading.
