Tennessee Voices Anthology, 2024-2025, a poetry anthology from the Poetry Society of Tennessee, is now available. The anthology features winning and selected poems from a variety of poetry competitions the society holds throughout the year (learn more). Poets appearing on its pages range in age from elementary school children to octogenarians.

The eclectic collection includes diverse topics and a variety of poetic forms. As president of the society, I’m thrilled for the people whose poems appear in this edition of Tennessee Voices. I’m also incredibly grateful to everyone who made the anthology come to life. It’s a long list, including sponsors, contest chairs and coordinators, judges, the editorial board, friends of the society who spread the word, and contest entrants.

28 Poets, Plenty of Poetry

Tennessee Voices Anthology, 2024-2025 showcases 47 poems by 28 poets and recognizes many more for placing in contests or receiving honorable mentions. As a Tennessee-based poet, I’m excited to share that a few of my poems are included in its 105 pages: a cento, a Dorsimbra (a form invented by Poetry Society of Tennessee members decades ago), and a prose poem about a Tennessee river (it’s depicted in the feature photo on this blog post, a shot taken during my first hike above Doe River).

I’m honored to share pages with all of these poets, and especially happy for my POETEA open mic hosting pal and Tennessee Voices Anthology, 2024-2025 Editorial Board Chair, Kayla Nichols, who also has three poems in the anthology. My poetry workshopping pal KB Ballentine snagged Best of the Fest for the best poem among winning festival poems for “Rest,” which appears in the volume. And I offer a special shout out to John Mannone and Sarah Cummins Small , who each have four poems appearing in the anthology (check out their books in the society’s bookstore).
